Our Brides Share Their Stories"We wanted it simple. But we also wanted it romantic and memorable.""When we started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted it simple. There would be only the two of us, and about two dozen or so close friends and relatives. We wanted it simple. But we also wanted it romantic and memorable. ![]() "We found the Penn Memorial Church Wedding Package on the Internet and we called Misty to check on availability. It was a perfect fit! (And it was only $1000!!!) "It worked great: Our guests parked near the Basin Park Hotel down on Main Street and walked up to the church while we got ready. (You wouldn't believe this church, it's gorgeous and it's right in the center of Eureka Springs. And what a great little romantic town. It looks like a movie set. And it makes you feel like you are the star!) Anyway, the minister, Pastor Ricks (what a nice guy) performed the religious ceremony. It was wonderful. Everyone cried. ![]() "After the ceremony my reign as 'princess.' continued. A decorated, horse-drawn wedding carriage (it even had the 'Just Married' sign on it!) picked us up in front of the church and carried us down through the middle of town with everyone waving and cheering. (Wow, I still get goose bumps!) "We arrived at the hotel where our guests showered us with bird seed and we went inside for a wonderfully romantic little reception under the glass ceiling of The Atrium Room. It could not have been better. ![]() "This event and the people at hotel made me -all of us- feel so special. It was all I imagined it ever could be. I will always have a special spot in my heart for Eureka Springs for making my day a lifetime memory." Weddings are supposed to be romantic (and mine was, without a doubt!) but you know that our group is so much into fun we had to consider that as well when we were looking for a place for the wedding and reception. That's why we chose The Basin Park Hotel. You remember, it's the one I told you that we always stay at for the Eureka Springs' Blues Fest. (In case you don't remember, it sits right in the center of downtown Eureka Springs. The location is great! We park our car once and we can walk to restaurants, shops, nightclubs. Everything we want to do is right outside our front door.) ![]() "Anyway, some of our group checked in on Thursday so we could enjoy the spa that's in the hotel. It's called Serenity and it doesn't take long to find out why. We gals got our nails done and I even got a massage. How relaxing! Everybody else came in Friday evening. And that's when the fun really started. "That Friday night we all ate out on The Balcony (it's the hotel's restaurant where you sit outside and look out over all of downtown.). After that we went out bar hopping. How wonderful it was to be with all my favorite people in the world -some I had not seen in forever- and to let off a little steam the night before the wedding. (The best thing was none of us had to worry about driving, thank goodness!) ![]() "Now on to Saturday. The wedding was awesome! Everyone started arriving at the hotel around 6 o'clock. Most everybody not staying overnight parked down on Main Street just below the hotel. The ceremony was on the top of the hotel in their Grand Ballroom. It was beautiful. We were up on this incredible stage and surrounded by these beautiful antique stained glass windows (the hotel was built in 1905. talk about history!) We had about 125 guests and everybody could see and hear us just fine (not like in some churches.) Everybody loved it. "After the ceremony we all went downstairs for the reception in The Ozark Room (another great room!) RoAnna, our wedding coordinator at the hotel, was waiting down there to greet and congratulate us and to make sure everything continued to go well. ![]() "It did. The food was awesome and the staff was outstanding. The chefs did such a great job. (Even Uncle Charlie said how top notch everything was!) "When we were planning this thing everyone was asking why we chose this place. But you know, we've got such a fun group that choosing The Basin Park was a natural. Now in looking back, no one is asking why. My friends and my family all had a great time and a lot of them said they were coming back just so they can escape to Eureka Springs and this great, old historic hotel."
