History
-
The Basin Park Hotel was built in 1905 on the site of the former Perry House, which burned down in 1890. Constructed from local limestone, it was considered modern for its time, with electric lights, steam heat, and telephones in every room. Over the years it became a lively social hub, most famously hosting the Barefoot Ball starting in 1948, and it has since been carefully preserved and restored. Learn more on our History page.
-
The Basin Park Hotel is owned by Elise Roenigk, who purchased it with her late husband, Marty, in 1997. Since then, they have led extensive restorations to preserve its historic character: restoring the original roofline, renovating guest rooms with period décor, and updating spaces like Spa1905, the restaurants, and the bars, so the hotel stays both authentic and sustainable for the future.
