Christmas in the Heart of Downtown Eureka Springs

There is no better place to use as the center of your Downtown Eureka Springs Christmas weekend celebrations than the 1905 Basin Park Hotel, 12 Spring Street, adjacent to Basin Spring Park.  You will realize that when you take one step out of their front door and you are immersed in holiday lights, decorations, and an atmosphere that surrounds you with the spirit of the season.  And, here are a few more yuletide reasons why:

Annual Christmas Parade of Lights – Of all the parades that travel through downtown, this parade is the favorite of visitors and residents alike.  Floats, bands, smiling faces throwing candy and, of course, a chance to catch a glimpse of Ol’ Saint Nick… and the best place to see all of this is in front of the hotel.  Many like to arrive early for light snack in the hotel’s Balcony Restaurant or dropping in after Santa has gone by to sip on a cup of hot chocolate or an adult beverage while looking out over the downtown lights.

Shopping for Unique Gifts – One of the best holiday celebrations is going from store to store in downtown to pick out that perfect gift… a unique gift, the kind you won’t find in one of those chain stores.  A good starting point and a “we’ll meet you back here afterwards” point is the Basin Park Hotel.  A quick meal “afterwards” on The Balcony is a great place for your gang to compare all the treasures you purchased.

Entertainment in The Aud – The Eureka Springs City Auditorium (The Aud) is only one block from the 1905 Basin Park Hotel… and The Aud has numerous concerts and events during the Christmas season:  John Two Hawks Christmas Concert, December 7; Northwest Arkansas Ballet Theatre, December 13; Ozarks Chorale Christmas Concert, December 14; “Home For The Holidays” Concert, December 20; and “Grady Nichols Christmas”, December 21.   If you are traveling from out of town for a performance at The Aud, the Basin Park is the place to stay since it is close and only a casual walk away.  Locals will meet at the hotel for a cocktail before and after a performance to make the special holiday evening even more special.

Night of MerryMaking – On Saturday, December 14 beginning at 4 p.m. is “The Night of MerryMaking”, a festive, uproarious and experiential holiday event that starts in Basin Spring Park and includes…  what seems to be 1,000 Santas blanketing the downtown streets; plus Spring Street full of “Living Windows”, three-dimensional canvases with live actors as they pose in storefront tableaux replicating artwork from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art;  mömandpöp singing; snow falling; and sidewalk Christmas carolers.

Food & Wine – The weeks surrounding the holidays also make up a great time to gather with those close to you to have a casual lunch or dinner, sip your favorite wine or craft beer, or simply enjoy each other’s company.  Whether you choose the 1905 Basin Park Hotel’s Balcony Restaurant & Bar, the casual atmosphere of their Lucky 7 Rooftop Lounge, or any one of the other 21 bars and bistros in walking distance from the hotel (you are in the center of the Eureka Springs Entertainment District, you know), either place is a fun and delightful get-together spot for kicking back and sharing holiday cheer with friends and family.
