The Legend of Jack Rabbett’s Whisky Bar
In 1895, the Basin Springs Hotel Company was formed, owning local businesses, including the Basin Park Hotel, which opened its doors in 1905. Despite the temperance movement and prohibition, liquor continued to be sold and consumed due to a local bootlegging industry. Joe Parkhill took over the hotel in 1944 and attracted northern visitors with a quality hotel offering liquor by the drink and gambling. The hotel was raided in 1951, and Parkhill lost interest and sold it back to its previous owner. Today, customers can visit Jack Rabbett's Whisky Bar and experience the hotel's history.
